Transit Administration (FTA), Project Management Oversight (PMO)
In 1998 LSG was selected
as a subcontractor participant on two separate national contracts
for PMO services on public transit projects funded by the FTA.
These projects involved planning, design and construction of new
transit facilities and renovation and reconstruction of older
and/or abandoned transit facilities in downtown and surrounding
urban communities.
In 2003 LSG was again selected as a subcontractor
participant on two of seventeen separate national, 5-year contracts
awarded by the FTA for PMO services. LSG professionals provide
knowledge and expertise about federal requirements and regulations
for managing design and construction of major transit facilities
programs.
LSG provides PMO services to the FTA
on projects in Anchorage, AK; Baltimore, MD; New Orleans, LA;
Philadelphia, PA; Phoenix, AZ; Seattle, WA; and Stamford, CT.
LSG provides consultants to review and evaluate:
- Project management
plans
- Contract management
practices and procedures
- Construction logistics
and schedules
- Contractor claims
- Design and construction documentation practices
- Capital cost estimates
- Quality assurance performance
- Construction progress
Notable achievements include:
- A schedule review
found that the links between critical, interdependent activities
to be performed under separate construction contracts had been
overlooked in the master project planning schedule. Our findings
and recommendation to link these activities prevented potential
costly scheduling conflicts by the interfacing contractors.
- A capital cost
estimate review performed prior to bid of a major construction
contract found that the engineer's estimate was under-valued
by more than 25 percent. As a result of our finding the transit
agency had to reschedule and delay bidding and award of this
contract and several other major construction contracts to
more accurately coincide with projected federal and state
funding.
- LSG consistently receives the highest rating
on annual performance evaluations by the prime PMO contractors.
